4 Paws for Ability is a 501c(3) non-profit organization located in Xenia, Ohio. 4 Paws trains service dogs for people with multiple needs and disabilities. 4 Paws provides service dogs to people of all ages who are often times turned away by other agencies. They provide Hearing, Autism, Multi-purpose, Mobility and Seizure Service dogs, as well as In-Home Companion dogs.
4 Paws for Ability was founded in 1998 by Karen Shirk and her 1st service dog, Ben. Karen has a degree in social work and is involved with the daily operations at 4 Paws.
4 Paws consists of many volunteers, including their Foster Care and Puppy Raisers Program, 4 Paws Breeding Program, and foster homes for puppies and service dogs in training. 4 Paws is also part of the Rover Rehab program, which allows dogs whom would have otherwise been destroyed to become service dogs. They work in conjunction with 3 correctional facilities in Ohio and West Virginia, where inmates act as service dog trainers. This provides inmates the opportunity to give back to the community.
4 Paws is providing a wonderful service to so many families through the hard work and dedication of some wonderful people. The Walsh Family is proud to be supporting such an awesome organization. For more information about 4 Paws please visit their website at www.4pawsforability.org .
